Default To the Fair.

Last Fri. I ran into one of the people who run our county fair and we started talking about gardening. She'd never heard of many of the varieties I've planted and encouraged me to enter some veggies in the open class, so after much doubt I screwed up my courage and entered some things this morning. I don't care so much about ribbons but I thought it would be a chance to show folks around here that there are different varieties of the same veg. I will let you all know how things turn out, good, bad, or indifferent.lol. Here are some pics of the garden and of what I took.Attachment 653

Talking "Nice"

Hi "Friend",
"Nice" pics & great looking crops
A good variety of veggies there, as shaun said, not sure about the first 1 Spud of some type?????

Don't be too worried if you don't get a "Rosette" mate, you have won a gold medal, just for giving it a go

However, you could always try the "soft touch" with any "Female" judges,

Just make sure, they have thier clothes on & that they are not carrying Secateurs Before you make your move...

Good Luck,,, we expect results here, "Carlsberg" and all that,,,,cheers stupo.

Good luck Husker!! I always loved putting our veggies into our local show - and being awarded prize tickets. Be sure to let us know how you get on!

I would say that the first photo was of tomatoes.

Thanks all . The compliments and encouragement are appriciated. Shaun and Paul, the "Boss Lady" is right. The vegs in the first pic are two different varieties of heirloom toms. The one on the left is Cheokee Purple and the one on the right is called Delicious. They've grown really fast because of all the rain and heat and have given me some very interesting shapes. The CP went about 1lb and the D was close to 1 3/4. Oh and Paul, I'll be as pursuasive with the judges as the law and my morals will allow... well at least my morals lol.

"Morals"
I Think translated to "Enlish" You Mean "Wives"

Tip of the day, Don't take "Mrs H" with you

Cheers stupo.

Well the results are in and I guess I'm better at "bribing" judges than I thought. I received 4 second place ribbons and one first. Of course the first place was for my cucs, my by far least favorite veg. I only plant it because my Mom loves the things. Ah, such is life. Stupo, I had to look up secateurs, but not to worry the judges were unarmed. Oh, and there isn't a Mrs. H, my dream is to hit the lottery move to the U.K. and marry a fine lady there who will take care of me when I finally have to admit I'm old. Well a guy has to be able to dream. Thanks all for the encouragment and support

Hi "Boss"

If we did not laugh, then we would have to cry,(well me anyway).

I have just put the finishing touches, to a "Heartfelt" apology to all the people of "Anglesey"

Whilst, not being to explicit with details "I told them to expect "Change"

Get Stuffed said 1,
we dont want the "Tory" muppet or his "Cling-on" mate, here.

No said I, you have mis-understood,

Do you not read the "Cheshire Post"

After 3 hrs on sunday night (pubs shut) I finally convinced the few that had turned up, (the rest went to open the pub, upon hearing the news earlier) that all should be ok,

"Police" are monitoring all the houses that have been left "Vacant" (next to "Houses For Sale") as suspected hot points.

4,000,000 refu g's, were seen with suspected "Slime Fright",

Hugh F Wittingstall and his mate were rubbing their hands together,

The "Gastro Wagons" A board read as follows;;

"Nude Nutter"- "Slimey Suprise" "All You Can Eat For A Fiver"

Only 1 person was quoted as "Truthful" in his comments

We Have Tough Times Ahead,,,,, Says the "Chap" who runs the most "Lucrative" estate agents on the "Island", who also happens to be the "Chairman" of the Island "save the slug campaign"

Good Luck "Anglesey" Is my message, "Our Hearts are With You"

Some "Good Safe" accomodation, can be had, Just a "Few" miles away???
Contact; Mr Husker,,, @ Hamburg, Iowa.com

Cheers ??????

Oh Paul, how do you do it???? I am killing myself laughing - tears streaming down my face!!

I'll have to wear dark glasses now on my slug hunts so that I'm not recognised!!

Don't worry Husker - you're safe!!!

BTW in the village that we like on Anglesey (better hadn't mention the name) the pubs ring the bell for last orders, then turn off the light and lock up after the holidaymakers have left. Then switch the lights back on and stay "open" until the early hours. So you could add that the slug hunter is slightly tipsy!

Naked slug hunters? Police? And worst of all real estate agents? Makes me want to rethink that dream about moving to the U.K.! I think I'll stop buying lottery tickets just so I don't tempt fate Well the pub does sound good though! This site is just a laugh a minute, sure am glad I found it.

"Lock up"?????? I should think,,,,, it will be "Boarded Up"

Do these unsuspecting villagers, Even know, what an "Asbo" is???????

"Sunglasses" Won't be recognised

Just going out in clothes would be better, surely Who would recognise you then?????

Well, hopefully, all will turn out well in the end,,,,,,,,,,, Must go now, work to do,,,cya later, cheers stupo.

Paul you are absolutely hilarious!! Mrs S. must spend her entire day laughing!!!

"Those poor unsuspecting villagers" might find out about my antics sooner than we thought because the naked slug hunter Anglesey is No.1 on Google!!!!

I really must wear dark glasses now!!!

Don't worry Husker, keep buying that lottery ticket - we aren't all barking (crazy) nutcases over here!! Although "poor Les" would say that was a perfect description of me!

Hi All,
Firstly, I must apologise, to "Mr Husker" for highjacking his thread.

However, after being online for 2 hours, i have finally confirmed, that,,,,,,,,,,
"The Word is Out"

Apparently, "All" residents of "Anglesey" have been "Tipped Off" as to the "Antics" of the so called,,,,, "Slugger of Cheshire"

1 Former "Neighbour", (who did not want to disclose his identity) was quoted as saying;;;;; Snip, Snip, Snip, is all i hear, throughout the night
The "Valium" are working, he explained to the "Doctor" However, i still cannot bring myself to use the "Hot Tub"
And as for the "******" well,,, no use now

"Sources" say that they recieved the information, from a very "Good Contact"

Someone who goes by the undercover name of "Hubby Les", who apparently, is quite close and well known to the "Naked Nutter"

"How Unlucky is He"?????

Mind you, think of the "Poor Blighter" that is actually "Hitched" to this Person

How does he sleep at night

Still, he must be a chap with "Courage", good luck to him is what i say He will need it where they are going.

As you know, i have friends in high places, so any members that feel they may need some counselling, regarding any matters posted, they may contact

"Mr Husker", c/o, po box,1224, Iowa, USA, Tel; 0898,??416723***
However, no calls will be excepted during "Lottery Draws"

Good luck, to you all, cheers "Anon"

Stupo my friend, no apologies needed. I'm just glad to know there are concerned, caring citizens, like you, who will put their reputation and dare I say their own safty at risk to "expose" such a public hazard as the "Naked Nutter". And of course you're correct about the spouse of such a person, if the world were truly fair he would be Knighted and granted a year long all expenses paid vacation....ALONE! I on my part am only all too willing to offer any counciling help to those devistated by this calamity
