planting Garlic

is it right that i should be planting my garlic now before the heavy frosts come?

Yes, Garlic needs a cold snap to develop propper bulbs. Mine was planted a couple of weeks ago

I missed getting my garlic in before the snow came - can I put it in now or am I now best waiting until after the winter?

I'm the same, I was thinking about starting some indoors/in the green house then planting it out after a few weeks. I figure i could maybe trick them into thinking the planting out represented winter.
