Default Brassica Protection

First year growing last year .. on 3 large raised beds ... had excellent results, apart from Cauliflowers which were decimated by Cabbage White nasties.

Thinking I need to put Brassicas under cover this year .... cabbage & cauliflower would be easy enough but broccoli grows quite high ... too high for tunnels I have seen.

Anybody know of suitable solution ?

I had to make 3ft high wooden frame work covered with enviromesh for exactly this problem. It was the only way I could find to get the height. Hope you are a handy person. Good luck.

I saw a web page where a guy had done this using 25mm water pipe .... these bend into hoops, and he had some form of rods in ground that they slotted over, wide & tall ... and cheap.
Can't find the webpage now :-(

15 Mm plastic pipe is used as a 3 foot high aprox frame for my beds, screwed some pipe clips inside of wooden sides, clipped in tubing, secured netting or mesh as required with some cheep cable ties.Still o/k after 3 years.

The one I saw used 25mm pipe, and had alluminium rods pushed into ground, the 'hoops' slid over these rods, and net draped over

Thinking about what I could use instead of bamboo canes...maybe5/8" rebar, 3' lengths of this ...drive 2' into the ground.

so many comments have been passed but no one stated the products now i would add some thing that Since 2000, Brassica Protection Products (BPP) has been developing ways to deliver consistent and high concentrations of glucoraphanin, also known as sulforaphane glucosinolate (SGS). Scientific studies revealed that this compound, when broken down to its active form, sulforaphane, acts as a long-lasting antioxidant that detoxifies carcinogens in the body.
B&D Nutritional Ingredients' product, SGS Broccoli Seed Extract is made from the seeds which have the most concentrated and stable source of glucoraphanin.

The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine has received many patents for this SGS-enhanced broccoli sprout discovery, and the University licensed these patents so that broccoli sprouts could be carefully monitored to ensure they contain optimal levels of SGS. These fresh broccoli sprouts are now available to the public as BroccoSprouts® featuring the SGS logo at supermarkets and other specialty markets. SGS is produced under US patents 5,968,567; 5,968,505; 5,725,895; 5,411,986; 6,242,018; 6,521,818; 6,177,122; and 7,303,770.
