Default Thinning out / re-potting seedlings

I have a number of tomato seedlings in a heated propogator. I tried to sow fairly thinly but in anycase they have required repotting.

Some have seemed to flourish in their individual pots (still within doors) others have tended to wilt, some of which I think I have since rescued by pushing more compost around the "stalk?" to support them.

Do you think its the way I am thinning? I try to take care and remove carefully. Should the plants be watered well on re-potting? I do moisten the compost but worry that I dont want to over-water.

I know they are all incredibly fragile at that stage but getting a little worried I am doing something wrong. Dont remember these issues the last time I grew tomatoes.

propagators often produce leggy plants particularly tomatoes .plant your seedlings as soon as you can handle them and bury them up to the first two leaves in compost ,the fine hairs on the stems will form roots .if yo have to keep them in the propagator pot them on raise the lid by adding blocks of wood all round and turn off the heat rotate the propagator daily
