Question Incinerator ash

I had a burn up last evening getting rid of a lot of old papers and old fencing off cuts.
Can I dig in the ash that is left in the burner or should I add it to my composter or ditch it ???

As long as you didn't burn coal, petrol, or plastic it should work quite well. Wood ash always used to be kept especially, because it is full of goodness. I've put it directly on the soil before digging in before, for plants that need potash, and it didn't do any harm. But I was worried it might scorch the plants, and I think it is probably best off on the compost heap.

I will have to wait now as it has decided to rain and as it was late when we finished didn't empty the burner out
I have a large pile of top soil and compost that I have sieved from last season sitting on a tarp, so perhaps I will mix most of it into the pile and scatter the rest around my fruit trees and put some in a bucket to add to my tomatoes when they are starting to fruit as it supposed to be very good for Toms

If you know anyone with chickens they love to use ash to bath/roll about in! My friend gave me some and my two hens love it and it keeps them from using the soil instead!
