Question Using bonfire ash as tomato feed

Can anyone tell me the mix for using bonfire ash mixed with water as a feed?
and when is best to use it?

Be a little careful with this technique. What you are doing is almost like liming a bed. So.., make sure you don't do so much that you are going to affect the Ph on your soil. For agricultural purposes, the guidance I found suggested 20 pounds to 1000 square foot. So you won't need much at all for a few tomatos.

In terms of mix, all you need to do is add enough water to make it easy to pour.

The recommended mix should look like very week tea and used sparingly once a month.

I was wondering is charcoal ash usable on the garder? I could do with emptying out the BBQ and it'd be nice to know if the ash is useful...

My instinct says yes and no. Charcoal itself is basically just wood ash. So if you get organic charcoal, it should be OK. But you would need to crush the charcoal, so you could apply it evenly. If you have used a fire lighter fluid on the charcoal you shouldn't put it on your garden.

All in all... possibly a little too much hassle?
