Default Can I plant peas and broad beans together?

I've got a round raised bed in the centre of the garden which gets plenty of sun and I have set aside for planting my broad beans and peas. I was planning on creating a wigwam thingy (can't think of a better way to describe it ) with bamboo canes for the to grow up.

So my question is really whether I need to keep the broad bean on one half of the circle and the peas on the other or whether I can plant them every other? I was thinking it would look nicer to have them intermingled but have no idea whether this is practical or not???

I am not sure if there is anything wrong with this but i can not see anything wrong at all , so yes i think that would be fine.
I am going to be planting my peas and beans quite close to each other my self this year

Hi roo-b-loo, wigwam sounds lovely but you might need something a bit more twiggy for the peas' litle tendrils to grasp onto. No problem growing them in the same place and alternating though, imagine it will look nice. The broad beans will grow more upright though so not sure they'll be able to use the slanted wigwam poles for support?

The only problem is that peas will climb and broad beans don't. Because the peas have loads of tendrils the will grap the broad beans and grow around them. Which might mean you get less broad beans.

Personally i would put peas on one side and broad beans on the other side.

Also our broad beans always seem to get black fly and these might go on the peas.

Hope that helps

I would also grow them apart for the same reasons as mentioned above.
