Hi folks, i planted several aubergine plants in the garden plot last week and they seemed to take pretty well. We've had some nice weather and now ive noticed two of them have gone really limp, only the leaves though. The stems are still upright. Ive watered plenty but am worried they are dieased or something. anybody have any ideas?

Just an update.. I removed the plastic cloche yesterday and 24 hours later they seemed to have perked up! Could they simply not like the warmth or humidity?

Hi GMB27. It's very possible that the plants were getting too warm and too much humidity, especially since they're new plantings. I think plants are a bit like us, as long as it's not too cold, they like fresh air and sunshine.

Thanks Husker, this seems to be the reason. Ive tried covering them a few times and the same happens. Problems is theyre near the peppers, which like the mini greenhouse! ah well.

I don't think aubergines like heat or humidity very close. They are fine if its larger i.e a tunnel or maybe a large cloche. I suppose it's like breathing in a bag...

I've tested in several times now and bingo! They hate the cloche! I take it off and theyll recover in a few hours, when i drop it back on, they droop!
