Default wind

it has taken me 7 hours to travel 20 miles tonight

a half hour journey on a bus, turned into a mile walk to the train because the tay road bridge was shut, only to find out the trains had stopped due to fallen trees and the other way round by road and rail had fallen trees so i had to wait until the wind speed dropped to 70 before i could get home thanks to a lift.

and as i thought, everything has been blown everywhere....forecast said 20-30 mph not 100+

i saw an oak tree that must have been 100+ years blown onto a car today....not a pretty site

Seems like there has been crazy weather world wide. We usually have a number of deaths here in the states due to tornados but this year it's well into the hundreds. I just checked our weather radar and it looks like there's a strong storm headed this way. Take care friends, gardns we can replace but it's not the same with people.

Yep, mine too ! All blown over along with my sweetpeas, sugarsnaps and carrot leaves (not too worried about the carrots though...) Hopefully everything'll recover!

Very windy here in south east uk. My apples have been blown off the trees today, very annoying as they were my first apples. My plastic greenhouse has taken a good bashing as well. Lucky I tied it to the walls and the ground. An orchid got blown accross the garden and smashed. It will grow again. It is blowing 20mph with gusts to 40. I wonder how much Farmers loose each year due to weather. It all seems very insignificant compared to someone dying.

thankfully no one was in the car at the time, 40mph is a mild breeze up here. the road bridge shuts at 90mph (going across when it's above 60 is brown trouser driving) and the rail bridge shuts at 100mph (we are already on the second one of them after the first got blown away!) i'm lucky because my garden in sheltered and walled on 3 sides so not too much damage to report there.

that and i guess scottish plants are brought up with gail force winds so they stand up to them better than most.

A bit like the people too eh.
Any man who can wear a skirt in winter gets my vote ha ha. I guess brass monkeys are a bit scarce up there as well!

My garden took a bit of a battering like. BBQ over, canes downed, strawberry covers wrecked :/
