Question Blooming corriander problem! Literally :-)

Hi folks, ive been growing corriander in my garden and using it pretty often for cooking. However weve had a lot of sun down here and ive not been using it for a month or so. I went out to take a look today and its now about 3 feet high and has white flowers all over it!

Can i still use it to cook? I didnt realise corriander flowers! Anyhow, it looks very pretty still even if its useless for the kitchen now.

Hi GMB, once coriander flowers the flavour is supposed to change - but why not save the seeds after flowering? Once the seeds turn brown cut off the stems and rub the seed heads to release the seeds, then spread them out for a couple of weeks to dry and store in a jar for use in cooking.

My coriander did the same thing whilst I was on holiday. I used some the other day in a bean salad and it seemed to taste fine.

Also... you can keep the seeds to use in cooking so it's not all bad!
