Default Potato Poisoning

Hi Guys,

My parents planted some Maris Piper potato in my garden in April this year during their visit. Never growing any veg in my life, I carry on look after the veg patch after they went home.

This morning I surprisely found some young potatoes appearing on the soil - same size as baby's fist. I cooked them well and expeted to enjoy my first ever self-growed potatoes. Unfortunately after eating my mouth turn slightly numb, slightly headache, and feel a bit sick.

Should I go to see doctor? When are Maris Piper potatoes ready to eat?

Loads of thanks

you should never eat green potatoes has their posionous and they turn green in sun light. as a general rule if potatoes is big enough to eat theyre ready but the longer you leave them the bigger they get i think when i did my health and safety course it was said that youll need to eat quite a few to get ill but the toxins store up in the body so if your worried phone your local doctor or medical centre for advice you cant take chances with ones health

Could you have been eating the round green seed pods of the potato, which are almost certainly poisonous?

You would need to eat a large quantity to cause any real lasting damage but as said above, green potatoes are full of toxins, prob explaining the experience you had.
