Hi Greenfingerbag, that depends on the variety of poppy - the Oriental Poppy or Opium Poppy (Papaver Somniferum) is not edible but the seeds of the Field Poppy or Corn Poppy (Papaver Rhoeas) are edible - HOWEVER, the leaves are toxic so must not be eaten!
