I have grown pumpkins for the first time this year and they are really growing well. Not sure how many fruits should be on each plant I have about 6 on each. The vine is taking over the corner of the squash patch, should I just let it go on growing or should I restrict the growth of the vine to allow the nutrients to go into the fruits that are already forming. Ifit is better to restrict the growth of the vine, can you advise me how to do this, I do not have a very big squash patch so obviously I am keen to give everything a good chance. thanks.

I grow squahes and allow as many as it can grow. They are all different sizes at the end of the growing season - but I don't mind that at all. You can restrict them by taken some of the small pumpkins of or take the growing tip out of long arm vines.
But aid personally I allow them I let them grow. ![]()

Hi Difry. I agree with what VG said. I don't grow pumpkins but I grow alot of different kinds of melons that vine all over and I just let them go. I know of folks who grow pumpkins for contests who take off all but one or two per vine but they're trying to grow huge pumpkins. As long as you keep your plants fertilized and watered I think you'll be fine. Good luck with them.
