Question Suggest a vegetable to plant NOW?

Hi guys, I've just had a great big harvest of lettuce and now have a big empty bed that I dont like the look of! Can anybody suggest a vegetable that can go in now and be ready in the summer or autumn?

Hi GMB27. I finished my lettice last week and am planning on planting bush green beans next week. The past 2 years my later beans have done better than the ones I plant in the spring. Last year it was 14 gal. so that might be something for you to try.

We sowed some early nantes carrots - the seed packet says you can sow until late July, although I suspect that is in the South of England. These would be ready to harvest about October.

We also sowed some boltardy beetroot.

Once the temperatures cool you can sow spinach leaf.

At a push you could try artichokes, they would be about a month late but could be worth ago, all depends on where you live, I am in the Isle of Wight and so about a month ahead of the mainland
