another question: does salad need rotation?

I have lots of perennial herbs scattered throughout the flowerbeds in my garden and was just wondering if I can do the same with my salads & spinach? If I would do that - would just feeding it yearly with good compost do the trick if I don't use crop rotation to maintain a healthy soil?
