Question Effect of Bay Tree on other Vegetables

Hi everyone, I am new here and new to Vegetable Gardening also.

I am in Christchurch, New Zealand and have moved in to a house with two large vegetable patches.

In the corner of one of the patches is a very large Bay Tree (laurus nobilis), by large I mean towering over my garage.

My question is, do all of the little pods and leaves that are falling out of the tree have any effect on the vegetables I will be trying to grow?

I've just sown Lettuce, Mesclun, Carrot, Radish seeds in this patch and not sure whether all of these seed type things that are falling out of the bay tree will effect my seeds in any way?

Thanks!

Don't usually grow that large in UK! But I don't believe it should be any problem.
