Default rhubarb

i have inherited a rhubarb plant but it looks abit sorry for itself so i think i might need to dig it up and start again. asked a fellow allotment holder and he said it needed some tlc and feeding. in fact he would dig it up get rid and when his is ready for splitting i can have some of that.
any thoughts on looking after the rhubarb when i get it.

Dig it up and split it in the winter then you will be able to see how healthy it is inside. We had some inherited Rhubarb on our allotment that was struggling so we dug it up and it was hollow inside so we split it and replanted and now it seems ok! Replant with plenty of compost!

Also keep the crown covered in compost over the winter. It will then burst forth in the spring!
