Default show garden

i'm doing horticulture at college and thought you guys and girls might like to see the fruits of my labour.

from gardening scotland in june, we got silver gilt, which was the best given to any college entry but not good enough

the pink flowered shrub is Kalmia latifolia 'pink frost'.

a similar garden has been entered for the local dundee show, gets judged tomorrow morning (fingers crosses for a gold this time). i'll get some pics on saturday

thanks for the compliments i'd love to be able to say it was all my work by that would be a total lie....

it's called a 'scottish docot (dovecote) garden'

yeah its the show at campie, we have a 5x5m plot rather than 5x4 so the docot is at angle, the pond is bigger and it feels less cramped. and a lot of the planting has changed to make sure everything is at it's best.

more pics from gardening scotland...mainly orchids

Pleione formosana

Cypripedium reginae

Dactylorhiza praetermissa

the northern relative of Dactylorhiza praetermissa, dactylorhiza purpurella (growing wild)

bonsai rhododendron

bonsai acer palmatum

Great pics Aircond, and congrats on the prizes. I'll have to keep my eye out and see if we get that beautiful wild orchid over here. I love it. Well done.

you will have some sort of dactyloriza in north america, Cypripedium reginae is also an american native....there will be hundreds more if you look hard enough, 20,000-30,000 species so some of them will be near you

oh and don't go digging them up, this rarely results in a healthy garden plant and it is also illegal. as in 6 months behind bars illegal in some cases!

Thankyou bantie, I am really proud of it

The plan for next year is a 'contemporary' garden, but on a college budget

So, my idea is something kinda Bauhaus inspired (i like the use of simple shapes, things which are/could be mass produced or reused) a kind of socialist design ethic but with a hint of decoist glamour). something cutting edge but for the masses

Some fantastic pictures there.

Regarding the mini I was in Brighton one weekend and saw no end to Minis.

Turned out there was a Mini convention at the seafront.

There were 2,500 Minis attending.
