Smile Greetings from The Postage Stamp...

Just thought I would pop up and say Bonjourno to one and all

I am completley new to gardening, apart from marigolds and some herbs, and am venturing into container veg. Now, considering I have a postage stamp balcony, this may be no easy feat. However, I am determined to stop paying a small fortune for veg and encouraged by things that I have read on the net and the general ability of plants given good earth, water and sun Plus, I am on the top floor, so no slugs to worry about!

Be prepared for general ignorance and questions in abundance once I have built the containers from recycled pallets ...

Many thanks

Charly x

Hi there Charly! Welcome to our forum!

If you have the space for hanging baskets then you can growing tumbling tomatoes (one plant per basket) on your balcony. Tumbling Tom and Balconi Yellow are a couple of varieties.

Hi Charly

I've got quite a big garden, which had been let go to jungle by the previous owner, but I only planted a very small patch this year, as clearing is still ongoing. I put some seeds in for a "bit of fun" but I have been amazed at just how much veg you can get off such a small area!

I'm very much a novice, but one thing I have learned is that sometimes you don't need too much of one thing, for example, 1 courgette plant will feed a family of 10! Kinda wish I'd known that before I planted 6 the first time round and ended up with enough courgette to stock a medium sized supermarket.

Have fun! Barry
