Default Attack of the killer tomatoes!

Hello everyone,

Thank goodness for google when you're only a beginner and you've got spots on your tommies! It led me straight to you all and to a member with exactly the same problem (hopefully!). I'm a first time forum member so it may take me a while to work it all out, but I'm looking forward to benefiting from your expertise (it's so much nicer than trying to find the answer in a book). Thanks also to Lesley for the lovely welcome. Fran

Hi Fran,

I'm also new to gardening and this forum and have learned a lot from it in just a few days.

Hope you find it as useful as me.

Lisa

Hi Fran and welcome

Did you figure out what the spots were on your tomatoes? Blight can cause spots. If you have some pictures, others may be able to identify the problem for you.

Hi FranA,
"Welcome" to our "Friendly Forum".

Newtothis is correct when she says that Blight could have produced the spots.
However, it could be something like "Ghost Spot" (looks like little spots of water) on the affected fruit, but we would be able to give a better diagnosis if it is possible that you could post some pics for us to view.

Glad to have you onboard,,,cheers stupo

Hi Fran, welcome to our forum!!

Let's look on the bright side and hope it's not blight. If it is blight there would be brown / black marks on the leaves aswell as brown / black areas on the stems and brown / black areas on the tomatoes.

There are other reasons for spots on tomato fruits, so as Stupo said a photo would be really helpful.
