Smile Hello everyone

Hello everyone, my names Kevin and I got my first allotment last week its a brand new plot as well It was ploughed and rotavated in april a couple of times but since has been left so it has gathered a few thistles. But the ground is quite nice although a little hard but I started digging it at the weekend and I have got over half way through the plot. by the way it is 15x70ft I take it that is a fairly small plot by some standards but will be fine for now.

Heres what I have dug so far.

Its hard to judge how much is left but there must be around 25 feet left to do, I plan to plant some spring cabbage and such some late potatoes and put the rest down under a green manure.

Thanks for looking Kev

Welcome to the forum Kevin, any plans yet to how you are going to lay out your plot? Are you going to put in raised beds, paths etc, or keep it as one big growing area?

Not quite sure how what I am going to do at the moment, it will probably be along the lines of having fixed paths every four foot or so but not having raised beds I will be able to rotate the crops every year. The good thing is I have plenty of time to think about it, with only a few crops in this year, I also have time to make a compost bin from pallets and make some cloches (sp)
