Smile Hi all, time to finally dig in.

Just a short intro and hello.

So I figure now is as good a time as any to start my first veggie patch and make sure that over the winter that I have things all in place for spring. I have mapped out an area 5 metres by 3 metres (looks small though) and am just about ready to break the ground pending a trip to the hardware store, it will probably recquire a little levelling as well. I am also considering a small greenhouse or a big one later on.

I hope to be able to learn some good tips along the way and enjoy the forum, it looks a nice place.

Cheers.

Paz.

Hi Paz,
that's how I started out about 6 years ago 3x5m. Then I dug a bit more and a bit more...
Now it takes me only 20min to cut the grass, rather then the 2 hours way back then, just the weeding takes a bit longer.
A word of advice about the greenhouse think BIG, you never can have a greenhouse which is too big

Hi guys and thanks,

Yeah i figure 3x5 is a good starting size and it shouldn't annoy the landlord too much and it's a nice and manageable, plus anything to cut time off of the lawn is a bonus too. I think greenhouse size will have more to do with the wife until I can prove we actually need one.

Hah, the 'Carlsberg forum'. I can see the resembelance.
I guess you could say I'm from across a pond, I'm originally an Aussie but am now in Belgium. So I figure the weather will be similar, have the same kind of problems with pests etc..., plus I can speak the same language which is a bonus.
