Hi and welcome to the forum.
I'm reasonably new to the forum and also have the same type of gro-house as you for the same price and Argos. I've been growing various things in it now for about 3 weeks and have the following advise:- a) Invest in the green meshing that stops direct sunlight shining on the plants/propogators b) Ensure the gro-house is fastened down securely and add extra straps around the top section. The wind will rock the whole thing even when it's secure and cause the trays etc on the shelves to fall off. Even the horizontal poles located in the plastic corner pieces will work lose. c) Keep an eye on the internal temperature as this can raise to 30degC on a sunny day as there is nowhere for the hot air to escape. The green mesh will help. I have a remote temperature/humidity sensor that transmits to a display in my conservatory so am able to check what the lowest and highest temps have been. d) Check the outer corners for plastic tears along the green seams. I've got a few small ones now due to the bad storms we've had recently. If I think of anything else I'll let you know, but this is a great starter for any up and comming gardner. I'll be taking mine down in 4 weeks to make way for a 6ft3 x 5ft3 greenhouse ![]() |

Hey many thanks for the advice on the Gro-house
Should be ok without the mesh as It is in a shady part of the garden and doesn't get direct sunlight until about 1pm and then only until 4pm as it ducks down behind trees in the garden, then it rises out and gives a little more sun from about 6:30pm until it goes down so its an ideal spot and the gro-house doesn't get to hot at all which is ideal for me and the plants.. Yep one thing I did yesterday when erecting it was to bolt it to the concrete patio, so its not going anywhere..I also used small guys to hold the top in place and stop any movement from the wind, Its rock solid as I didn't want to leave anything to chance.. ![]() Also have a digital temp gauge so I can see temps and Highest its been in there is 26c so plants should love it, its been really hot here to 24c today in the sun! Again thanks for the advice and taking the time to post here.. |
