Talking MrsBBlack

Hello!

I'm joining from the west Michigan (US) area! I am planning on starting my new vegetable garden in the spring (little over 6 months from now) and I am in zone 5!

Cheers!

L

Thank you for the welcome stupo74 and airconednightmare!

-26 is horrible! Beyond horrible even but it's mostly the wind chill that gets us down to those numbers. I had the privilege to live in San Jose CA for two years, a few years back, and I really miss the warm weather! Our fall season is right around the corner and today I had to resist buying the mums that were 50 percent off! I'm no expert but, I assume that planting perennials a month before frost could hit is a bad idea!? Not sure though. Either way I sadly passed the isle.

looking forward to using this site and learning as much as I can before I break ground spring 2012!

the mums might be worth a try, if the main problem is wind chill, then they avoid that by being underground. just cut them back once the tops get damaged and give them a good mulch and or cover with fleece.

and a month until frost? what you moaning about we already that in august
