Cool green manure

Hello all! Does anyone know - when is best to dig in red clover? Mine has flowered and its going to grow colder soon I assume (UK) I'd like to leave it to overwinter but will it still be good for soil improvement or would it be better if it were dug in now? I want the soil to be enriched by it - I also want a weed free bed - its a big long bed, by the way and currently it's completely matted with the red clover.

Any suggestions?

Sara - my real name. Matilda was created by my alter-ego which wanted me to be the Roald Dahl character for a while...because she is so smart!

hi and welcome to the forum

if the clover has flowered get it dug in asap or it will set seed and you will have clover everywhere!

Default green manure

Thanks for tip. I had wanted to gather some seed as it was expensive but OK, I will just leave a patch and watch it and gather soon as its ripe - and dig in rest!
