Default New Plot

Hi all,

Im new to gardening and have just built a 5 foot square raised plot. Are there any ideas on easy grow veg for me and my son to try growing? Do i need to do anything yet or wait until spring?
I have done some Google research and have a few books but they seem to contradict each other.

Hi Rusty, and welcome. Glad to have you with us. I can understand about the contradictions you found. I think if you put 10 gardeners in a room and asked them a question you'd get 6 different respones, all with good points. Sorry, but I can't help much with your raised bed prep question, But as for what to plant next spring, radishes and lettice, maybe a pepper plant and a tomatoe that doesn't get too big would work. Good luck

Hi Rusty, welcome to our forum!! French beans are easy to grow and taste great. If you have room for some containers or pots then you could grow courgettes in one. But wait until after the last spring frost before planting out. Good luck.

What about cherries, they don't all come from trees.

5ft square isn't very big so keep it simple and I'd buy a few seedlings from your local garden centre in the spring as if you buy packets of seed you will end up with loads left over.
start growing in pots
