Default slug rings, anyone tried them?

I want to try to be as organic as possible with my autistic son helping in the garden, I don't want to use slug pellets if I can avoid then in case he hadles them or even eats them plus I have a dog and cat.

Wendy.

Try "slug pubs" to catch the blighters or even make a micro pond to attract amphibians which love feating on slugs too.

Copper does deter slugs but they can come under the ring via the soil.

Thanks for the ideas. It did occur to me that a slug/snail can climb up a fence to come down on top of the plants so bypassing the copper, particularly when you have peas or beans growing up fences and canes etc.

Aswell as attracting toads by having some water and a damp place -(mine hide under an old piece of vinyl flooring) i find tall plastic containers of beer or cider sunk into the ground are very useful. The slugs die with a very big smile on their faces.
