Default Maggots in my Brusels

Hi there,

I am new to this site and have a question! I have just started growing my own vegetables, and thought it was all going fine until I began to move the Sprouts I had put in a little tray to start them off into a larger pot. I found little maggots in the compost that they had been growing in. Is this normal? Should I bin them?

Please help! I am gutted as it's the first time I have done anything like this and I am desperate for it to work out this year!!

Thanks,

M

M can you give a better description of them? Are they about a half inch long, curved with a brown head?

could be vine weevil or cabbage root fly. are the plants ok? are they wilting and is the root ball good? if transplanting them out wash the compost from the roots before planting. good luck
