Default snails

2 nights ago I laid down some slug pellets. Last night I noticed a couple of baby snails on my lettuces, which I picked off and this morning there was a large adult on one of them. The pellets are keeping the slugs and snails away from all my other plants, so why am I still finding them in my lettuces?

Hi Kabij

I read somewhere, if you put copper wire, either along your pot or near to your lettuce, that snails get electrocuted when trying to go over the wire!

Conversely, I hve heard that copper wire/strips deterrs slugs because of electric shock, but not snails. I have tape around my veg beds, and no sign of either breaking in yet (fingers crossed). The only thing I have found that definitely prevents snail damage is to grow whatever it is that you don't want munched in a pot, and put vaseline around the edge of the pot. Because it is too slimy, they can't get across. But you have to make sure that you don't have foliage overhanging the vaselined edge, as this cn give the little b****rs a bridge.
