I know this is not a disease but it is a bloomin' pest...can anyone tell me what it's called and more importantly how to kill it....I've tried roundup and weedol and it's still there.

That, unfortunately, is Mares Tail. And it takes some getting rid of. Though I was talking to somebody yesterday who has had some success using Verdone Extra.

Even with the arsenal we have on the farm we struggle to control that damned stuff, one suggestion would be to crush the stem of the plant so the roundup goes straight onto the sap, the plant has a wax type coating which often means weedkillers run off hence why crushing helps

I don`t think crushing helps. The plant cannot absorb the chemical if it`s damaged. It needs to be a healthy, growing plant.
