Default damaged/diseased tomato plants

Hi,

I put the baby tomato plants into the green house about two weeks ago, it had been very sunny and the tomato leaves soon started to turn yellow, so i brough them back in, however this hasn't improved the colour of the leaves and in some places the leaves have now paper spots in them where I think the sun had burnt through the leaves in places (maybe where water has collected on the leaves) does anyone know how I might be able to make my plants a bit more healthy!

x

Have you been watering them regularly, it can get very warm in the GH. Nip the yellow/dying leaves off, keep them moist & they should come back. Mine have been in the greenhouse for around 4 weeks now & appear to be ok, just keep them watered. If you are worried about water on the leaves causing them to scorch, stand them on trays & water from the bottom.

Helen, Just thought I would put a couple of pics on as its sometimes difficult to explain. I put 3 flower buckets per tray, 1 tom per bucket. Then in each tray is a couple of marigolds to assist pollination. I water from the bottom & will feed from the top when the first truss forms.

Helen, it`s just a little bit of scorch, don`t worry. When watering, water the compost NOT the plants.

Hi Helen, the second photo looks like the start of magnesium deficiency. If it is magnesium deficiency then it is easy to treat with epsom salts mixed with water as a foliar spray every two weeks. The mix is one pint of water to 1/2 ounce of epsom salts. You can buy epsom salts from the garden centre and the chemist.

On the 2nd photo Helen, the 2 cells to the right also look a little dry.
