I've tried aspirin in the past and have found that it seems to help germination too

Default doggie chew

Hi

Our dog used to chew on willow bark when he was ill. Sounds strange but that is where aspirin originated from!!

He wasn't daft

Cheers

Here in Oz we have a gardening show called 'Vasili's Garden' in one of the episodes he visited a gardener who puts aspirin into the soil around her vegetable crops - but they didn't give the reason??

Quote:
For strong and healthy plants, Effie (episode 2) applies aspirin to the soil. She crushes 12 aspirins, sprinkles them over an area 5 x 5 metres and waters them in. Then she plants her tomatoes or other vegetables in that soil. After 2 weeks, Effie crushes another 12 aspirins, dilutes them in water and then waters this solution into the roots of the plants.
