Post Snail & Slug Count!

The rain saves me the job of watering most the garden, but boy did it bring out the Snails!

I picked up 42 from my patio this afternoon. I thought we could do a communal Slug & Snail Count... lets see how many of the little critters we can capture together to save our VEG!

So, I'm starting with 42, add yours and so on so we have a running total....

Seeing as I love snailys I thought I'd resurrect this thread

Say hello to Snowball the snail, with baby riding on his back. Baby loves riding on the other snails backs.

We've got lots of snailies in the garden, and I feed them tomato, cucumber and cuttlefish for their shells.

Last summer we got so many that it was impossible to walk down the path in the evenings, So I took an ice cream container and filled it up with snails (a few hundred?), then relocated them to a patch of spare ground a few streets away.

I've just been repotting my plants and tubs and have found loads of snails. I'm surprised so many have survived the -10 degree winter weather we had here.

As I've said on my intro thread, I'm going to have to have 'the chat' with the snails soon as I don't want them to eat my veg. I'm sure we'll be able to come to some agreement, after all, it worked with the ants when I had a chat with them a few years back.

Out of interest, some people relocate snails over the garden fence but a recent study found that they will find their way back home unless you relocate them quite a distance.

Ali.
