Unhappy Have i lost my runner beans?

On having my morning cigarette,as ya do,i suddenly noticed a small clump of fungus on the soil in one of my runner bean tubs. On further inspection,it was slightly under the soil too around the roots and first thing that sprung to mind to root rot! I also noticed that the lower leaves on my 4 runner bean plants were turning from green to light green to yellow. I have removed all of the ill looking leaves and removed what i can of the fungus but is it too late, will i have to destroy them? Im sorry but i havent a camera at the moment either but would really appreciate any help please.

Oh,forgot to add that besides this, the runner beans are in full flower and starting off their pods, they look fine from about 10" upwards.

Ive just read this section line by line, post by post and think ive found out alot of answers on my own. My tomato plant leaves are also turning yellowy aswell as my runner bean leaves and i erm..........i water the plants through their leaves! I bad! I think ive been scorching them havent i? I will now water them at the base of the plants, plus i will get some epsom salts on monday and feed them up a bit,or shall i get tomato feed? Also,my cauliflowers are being eaten by something but cannot see any sign of any critters at all and they're netteed over to protect them but they defo have been on the menu for some ruddy pest!

Apologies about the terrible focus.
