Red face Half eaten carrots?

Please can anyone advise me on what could be eating my carrots, when I pulled some of them today, they were half eaten but not from the bottom but one whole side of the carrot. I plan to pull the rest and freeze them, that's if there are any worth eating.Thank you.

It could be mice or voles.

Default Half eaten Carrots?

Hi

Could it be that your carrots have been attacked by carrot fly? These make small holes in the side of carrots and then bore into the flesh often making the carrot unusable. Are these the symtoms you are experiencing?

Carrot fly is very common and best avoided by surrounding the carrots with a temporary low fence, about a foot high. The carrot flies fly at ground level and will travel round the fence, not over it.

Growing onions next to the carrots is also said to repel the carrot fly which does not like the smell of the onion family.
