What's this insect??

Hello everyone,

I spotted a strange little thing on a chives leaf today; don't know if this is a pest or something harmless so at the moment I'm leaving it in peace.

Any idea??

it looks kinda like a flat cheeselog (cheeselog is Berkshire speak for woodlouse!)

He he, today I saw another one (it was moving slowly but surely). I realised it's some sort of flat caterpillar. What I thought was the head with 2 antennae is in fact the tail
I relocated it somewhere outside my garden, just in case...

Yup, leave them be since they are not considered pests. they don't eat wood or leaves either. Their presence just indicates that you need to water your chives more often because they thrive in a low-moisture environment.
