Unhappy White Fly on Brassicas

Brassicas on my allotment have been infected with whitefly all summer and there are still millions of them on the over wintering crops.

Spraying with a systemic insecticide had no effect on them.

Next year I intend to grow Marigolds and Nasturtiums among them as they are reputed to repel white fly, at least the type which infest greenhouse grown tomatoes. It remains to be seen whether they are effective against Cabbage whitefly which are a different breed of whitefly.

I am also going to grow red varieties of brussel sprouts and kale having observed this year that the white fly do not infest red cabbage which I have grown with great success.

Has anyone any other suggestions?

Will give the salty water a try. The best thing we have found so far is Vitax
2 in 1 organic concentrate. This is a mixture of vegetable and fish oils and worked very well. It is however expensive at around £8 a bottle.
