Noticed these white and green insects living on the Greek Oregano leaves as well as around the soil at the base of each plant. They do not move or fly when the plant is shaken or disturbed.
Are they White Fly or Green Fly? Or something else. What are the organic methods of removing them? (as i don't fancy stirring them into my pasta sauses). Thanks ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks for the replys.
Treated a couple of leaves with the washing up liquid solution, but the leaves got brown spots overnight. So i guess the solution was wayyyy to strong. Have used 1/2 teaspoon to 1 litre water now, and it appears to work. Thanks. I'm also planting Marigolds, Nasturtiums, Mint and Lemon balm near the main vegetable areas to ward of the green fly. |

Great photos nick everett, did you use a macro lense?
I think the crumpled little white ones in some of the photos are the old shells of the greenfly as they moult and grow. I hear washing up liquid works well but I use Neem oil on everything. It is non toxic to animals and us and keeps greenfly away for days. I was watching sparrows eat the greenfly off my roses in my front garden today. I don't touch that garden as the back garden is enough work at the moment. It made me feel a bit guilty that I had killed so many greenfly when something else could have had a meal. |
