I have been very proud of my first attempt at toms and hope my luck continues however a few extra plants I was meant to chuck stayed at the edge of my garden and have done very well all showing fruit. However the new leaves at the top seem to be a different colour from what I am used to.
I remove yellow leaves etc but if I take all of the leaves that look healthy other than the yellow tinge they wont have any leaves left!! Is this blight? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks in advance for any help!! Duplicated in wrong section sorry |

Hi Benny, I would say that it is magnesium deficieny which is easily treated with a foliar spray of epsom salts mixed with water every two weeks. You can buy epsom salts from the garden centre and the dilution should be on the packet.

Hi Benny, no unfortunately that doesn't look good. Brown / black patches on the stems is one symptom of blight. But as your first post was seven days ago I do believe that originally your tomato plants were suffering from magnesium deficiency as blight is so destructive that it takes hold and destroys plants in a couple of days. If it is blight then tomorrow the plants will be much worse. You can cut off all the tomatoes and still use them although they will not keep. As the tomatoes in your photo are still green you can make green tomato chutney, then the crop is not lost. The plants affected with blight need destroying - don't put them on the compost. Good luck!
