Default Jam Using Frozen Fruit

Is it possible to make jam using frozen fruit? I have frozen blackberries and raspberries. As these are low in pectin will the fact that they are frozen stop the jam setting? Any suggestions for helping it set please?

Hi Cookie, yes you can make jam using frozen fruits, but like you say the pectin is lower than fresh fruit, in this instant I think you have to use jam sugar, you might like to search on UKTV food, they will have some ideas on there. Hope you find the answer you are looking for.

I have only used jam sugar once and the jam set like a brick! Gooseberries are great for adding to low pectin fruit and you can't taste them in the finished jam. The other thing I do is to start off with a bramley apple, cook it down and then add the low pectin fruit. Both these help set jam.

Cookie, I made my jam with frozen fruit and just added lemon juice which is high in pectin, its also makes it slightly more acidic which is how I like it.
