Default courgettes look sick in garden compost

Planted some courgettes raised form seed. Ones inside greenhouse in grobags are doing realy wel but the ones outside haven't grown, small leaves yellow.
Theya re planted in half barrels in mix of (our own) garden compost & a little topsoil.
So is the compost too rich / poor/ contains something detrimental?

Potatoes in same compsot loves it.
Any ideas?

Give them a bit of time.

Whenever I have grown courgettes and planted them out they seem to struggle at the start.

Growth is slow then suddenly they go like the clappers.

This is for courgettes from seed and from bought in plants.

Hello,

I'm a total novice at this, and have started off with some courgettes, which I planted from seed, and moved into the garden about a fortnight ago.

They were doing really well, but something seems to have gotten to them, it looks like something has spat on the underside of each leaf near the stem. What would have done this, and how can I stop it?

Thanks

It sounds like cuckoo spit. It's a lavae of an insect (I think) It can easily be cleaned of with a bit of tissue or just your fingers. It's not really spit, by the way, it's the sap of the plant that the insect sucks from the plant and covers itself in to prtect it.

I think I am right but someone will put me right if not. I am only a novice too but thought I would give this a go to see if I got it right.
