Mine is only 6" high!

Will you plat them or just dry them and store in a net?

Default Elephant Garlic

I'll dry and store, use as needed.

Here's a look at my first attempt at growing Elephant Garlic. All six plants did OK

Wow they look great!

I've just split a garlic bulb (the wife cant understand where all the garlic has gone!) and planted it, its just started to come up to im going to transfer them into my beds when they are all a bit bigger.

Any ideas how long they take to fully grow?

Seed Catalogs suggest that the two most comercial type varietys will finish in 90-100days.

My experiences with Garlic have taken me more like 120days from bulb to harvest!

My Garlic Experience.

Stiff Neck Snake Garlic

http://Garlic1.notlong.com 31 March 2007 Starting to grow.

31 March 2007. The fifty cloves were planted about 10 cm (4 inches) below the ground on 15 October 2006. No shoots came up until about 25 March 2007. All fifty cloves sprouted and appear quite healthy. The scapes will be harvested just prior to the flower opening, and the bulbs will be pulled about the 5 July 2007. Growth pictures will be presented throughout the season.

http://aipoh.notlong.com/ 1 July 2007 Pulling Garlic and re-planting the area. Pictures. 1 July 2007. Garlic was pulled today and the area planted with two rows of lettuce and one row of Joi Choi for later season use. "Durgan's Method" of planting small seeds is explained with pictures.

http://meiso.notlong.com/ 8 July 2007. Processing Garlic for further drying. The garlic will be dried thoroughly then stored in paper bags.

http://uuwae.notlong.com 13 July Garlic stored.

Two garlic plants did not have the snake seed head (scapes) removed, and these were noticably smaller than the other bulbs. All the other bulbs were about the same size. These are slightly smaller than the crop of last year. This is attributed to insufficient watering. The quality is superb generally, and all would be marketable in the commercial world.

5 June 2008. Thjere are still 7 bulbs from the 2007 crop, and they are in perfect condition. My curing method must be OK.
Garlic Snakes Some interesting information about this garlic plant.

The grocery store is utilized for fruit mostly.

Does your beautiful dog chase and seek rabbits? I have a rabbit in the yard and my little dog loses all the races, also sight of the rabbit. My yard is rabbit proof, but I left the gate open one day and rabbit got in. He has been in the yard for the last 5 days, and is eating some vegetable leaves. It is most annoying, since there are some many places to hide. But I shall overcome.

Rabbit in my yard = Dog food!

Boston Terriers can make very good watch dogs mine don't take to kindly to tresspassers. Especially fluffy fast ones! Heck, i don't think a deer would want to try getting by my Boston's!
