Default Little gems for my tea.

I have picked my first lettuce today and they will make a lovely addition to our salad tonight. The biggest one weighs 7 oz not bad for a lettuce. They seem much heavier and firmer than the shop bought ones. Can't wait to eat them.

I have taken some pictures for you.

Off now to replace these ones with some seedlings I have ready.

Ohh!! Lovely!! You will find they are much more crunchy, crispy and juicier than the shop bought lettuce - enjoy!

My whole salad tonight was littered with my own produce. The lettuce of course and I had my mangetout as well as some of my herbs chives, mint etc

you are right Lesley, the lettuce were yummy. And somehow tasted more "real" if you know what I mean? Shop bought have a processed taste. Only realised that today and it seems odd, as lettuce isn't processed, it's just grown as far as I'm aware.

Picked our first little gem and buttercrunch yesterday for tea - would have been earlier if the mice hadn't eaten the first two batches of seed(lings)

Thats how i do it. Keep that cycle going! Helps keeps money in the pocket that would have been spent on lettuce

Good job they look tasty.
