I don't know my onions

I planted 3 onions that I found in my veg bag with green shoots. They have grown well and one is now producing a flower.

Is this right or should I pull them up now or leave them?

Green Fingers, onions are biennial, the first year the onion grows that we use for cooking and in the second year the onions are replanted to produce seeds. The onions you have planted should all produce a flower head and hundreds of little black seeds.

Right, so I'll leave it alone and gather the seeds for next year then.
