Default Hello And Help Needed From Rotherhithe

Hi there.
i have been trying to grow some different veggies with little success.
My carrots dont seem to want to grow,my tomatoes seem to be creating more foilage than toms,my spring onions seem to have stopped ,but have produced some bendy stems and my potatoes are growing very very slowley.
Do i need more fertilizer .They get enough water/sun.I am growing these in raised beds. They all grow but with no crop help .I am pretty new to this and need all the help that is out there

cheers....

Hi there Veggie! Welcome to our forum!

You say all the vegetables are growing in raised beds - what type of soil did you use and did you add any fertilizer? Tomatoes should be planted out after the first flowers form or it can cause extra foliage growth but really it's a bit early for outdoor tomatoes yet. Once the tomatoes start to grow fruit they need feeding each week with a tomato food such as Tomerite.

Default Soil Type

Hi there,
Soil type is a good compost with organic matter added and some top soil .Some fertilizer was added but i would think some more needs to be mixed in.All plants are on south facing wall,Well netted.

It sounds as if something is needed. You could sprinkle Growmore around the plants and feed them. I've never fed potatoes and carrots before but this product is designed for root vegetables.

Feed the tomato plants with Tomerite and I would sow some more spring onions. Last year I fed my vegetable plants with organic seaweed extract but not tomatoes.

Hopefully someone will come along with the answer!

It's possible that you're expecting too much too soon I remember my first year growing, I expected everything to be ready way faster than it was possible! Poor veggies, they were doing their best See if you can find out how long each thing should take from sowing to harvest. For instance, it can take 3 months to get an edible sized carrot! If there's one thing gardening does teach, it's patience
