Default Bell pepper is a chillie

I have several pepper plants and they are supposed to be bell/sweet peppers but one is definatly a chillie.

I didn't grow chillies because I don't use them. I don't want to waste them so how do I use them? I like jalopino (sp) chillies on pizzas but are they a special variety and if not how do I pickle them, if they are pickled that is?

Wendy.

Hi,

Last year i had a glut of chillis and we froze them.Didnt wash them or seperate them, It worked beautifully. You could pop some in olive oil to use.

Good luck

I believe my wife pickles our Jalapenos for 6wks. in a brine of about 50% water to 50%vinegar with kosher salt added to taste. They come out perfect for topping pizza or nachos!

I canned 4 cases worth last year so i won't be growing any this season.

Don't just put them in olive oil as chillies have hardly any acidity which means that nasty bugs can grow. Always use a recipe that has vinegar in it. This recipe uses vinegar then oil.
