Fertile ,well drained soil, PH 6.0-6.8 is what they prefer

to increase productivity some people inoculate seeds with a legume inoculant

Beans will tolerate drier soil than many vegetables , but you should keep soil moist when beans begin to flower and while they are forming pods. Beans have shallows roots so don't hoe or cultivate to deeply!

Avoid getting water on leaves and working among beans when leafs are wet to prevent spread of leaf diseases.

watch for aphids, leafhoppers, Mexican bean beetle, mites, damping off, downy mildew

carefully pull ripe pods from the plants to avoid tearing off whole branches

here's a look at my runner beans growth so far this season. About 15 or so plants their variety is Kentucky Wonder. There is also two cucumber plants, two tomatoe plants, and 25 Bok Choy plants mixed in there
