Hi Sturoy, carrots are biennial and flower in their second year. What you have growing appears to be Common Fumitory. I hope the link to the image works!

Thanks for that - it definitely appears to be the plant that I have been toiling over for the last couple of months! No carrots for me this year, then!
Is there any chance that the seed company has sent me weed seeds, rather than carrot seeds, or is that just stupid? These plants only appear to be growing in the area that I sowed carrots, and not in the other areas where I have sown e.g. radishes. Thanks for your help! |

I'm having something similar with my spring onions.
What I thought were spring onions I'm now not so sure about. They're only growing in the place I sowed the onions and the seedlings appeared at around the right time from when I sowed them but now randomly in one corner I have something that looks distinctly like chives (and nothing like what I thought were my spring onions). With chives being part of the onion family I'm now not at all sure. I do have chives growing in another part of the garden but they were started off in a greenhouse and I can't see how the seeds could have migrated. |
