Default Help for a new wanna be gardener

Hi all,

I am very new to all this so please bear with me

I have just purchased two of these: Buy M&M_Timber Raised Wooden Vegetable Bed 1.8x.09mtr from Webbs Garden Centres for my garden of which i will be placing on top of my grass.

What i am trying to find out is what seeds can i sow without sowing them indoors, im looking for some easy and tasty vegetables that are used quite often in meals, i did want to grow tomatoes but as far as i have read they have to be sowed indoors first (maybe wrong).

So far i have been looking at this website: Buy Gardening Supplies, Vegetable Seeds, Flower Seeds & Plants from Unwins. for seeds but im still confused...cry

Due to me being a begginer and would like to take this up as a little hobby (plus the wife wants me to do all the cooking)..

I wish to start sowing in about two weeks (i know this might narrow down my choice but i just want to get into the thick of it and maybe learn by my mistakes).

Many thanks, and look forward to hearing from you all.

p.s Forgot to mention, idiots guide please as my wife often tells me "You Idiot"....lol

I know quite a few people who have had success with courgettes and lettuce, their quite easy to grow and lettuce in particular can stand a lot of different weather conditions!

Good luck!
