Default Why have my aubergine's turned brown?

Hi guys, I live in Spain and wanted to take advantage of the climate to grow some Mediterranean vegetables. So far I've only done Italian plum tomatoes bell peppers and aubergine's.

When they first began growing they were Black as they are supposed to be, now they have turned brown. Anbody know why and are they still good to eat?

Thanks in anticipation,
Brian.
